Lack Of House Buyers Puts Houses On Trump’s Scottish Golf Resort “on Ice”

Deep worries have been raised about the future make-up of Donald Trump’s Billion Pound Golf Development in Balmedie, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. The approved plan includes 2 eighteen Hole Golf Clubs, a four hundred and fifty Bedroom Hotel, 950 Holiday Homes and 500 Private properties.

The worries were raised after the Managing Director of Trump International, Mr George Sorial was recently pushed to deny that the company were holding back the building of the 500 private properties which were a critical part of the planning application.

It’s been claimed that the company have taken a decision to hold up the building of the properties due to the depressed state of the House Sales UK Market which is causing a dearth of potential Home Buyers.

Critics of the scheme say that the company is adjusting the scheme to maximise its own profit to the detriment of the Scottish Economy. There was bitter opposition to this plan during its 2 year planning process, and it was in the end only given the go-ahead when the Scottish Government reversed the decision by Aberdeenshire County Council to throw out the plan.

Mr Sorial has stated that the condition of the House Sales UK Market, the lack or otherwise of Home Buyers, and present levels of house values have nothing to do with the timing of the building and eventual sale of the houses in the plan. He went on to claim that it was always forecast that the housing building would start in the final phase of the overall project, after the Golf Course and Hotel had been completed and were fully operational.

Obviously, one can see the sense of putting up all the infrastructure and attractions before starting to develop and sell the private houses. If I lived in the area around this plan, I certainly wouldn’t want to Sell My House until all the upheaval of development is over, and the benefit of the amenities and destinations has had a chance to take its effect on my house value.

Mr Sorial further stated “The way we envisage it is that the golf course is full speed ahead. With the golf comes a club house and maintenance facilities, then the hotel. We can’t help but acknowledge the slowdown in the market. We have to sell them, so we’re not going to build anything until it feels right”. He further predicted that as soon as the market starts pick up, there would be a surge in demand for these houses, He also claimed that the local plan for housing in the area demanded thousands of properties annually, and that either way, the Trump Project was just a “drop in the bucket” when compared to the published local requirements.
